Short description:
“This Body, This Fruit” is a solo performance in 3 acts: a narrative journey built from poetry bringing the audience into, through, and out of the rage, sorrow, despair, revelation, awakening, and joy of transness.
Longer:
A one-person show in three acts, “This Body, This Fruit” is a singular journey through gender transition / revelation. Deeply emotional and personal yet inclusive, the play wrestles with bodily and spiritual questions faced by every human, while embracing transgender lives in all their complexity, sorrow, and joy. The work engages viewers and asks them questions about their own lives, whatever their gender(s), as it moves through the prismatic doors of a lifelong pilgrimage toward the self.
(The world premiere was July 8th-14th at the Phoenix Theater in Minneapolis.)

Content Advisory
What to expect (small spoilers)This play is emotionally heavy in some places (as is being a trans person in the world). There are specific and somewhat graphic references to murders of Black trans women. There are a few instances of explicit language (‘tits,’ ‘cunt,’ ‘fucks’ (as an epithet, not a verb)). There are a couple places with suggestive gestures/motions. Overall, probably less explicit than many PG-13 movies, but please remember that live theatre can be more impactful than images on screens.
